One of the most critical parts to your homes look, is the exterior. You have many choices on how you can cover your home, and many choices on the colors you can choose. All these choices make finding the perfect exterior covering or siding for your home, stressful. Choose between natural stone, brick, stucco, and several kinds of siding. Some of the traditional sidings that are the most common on homes now days are vinyl siding, aluminum siding, and cement fiber board siding, also known as hardie plank siding.
Once you decide on a look for your home, the next question is, How much will siding cost? Getting a direct answer for an estimate online or over the phone is next to impossible. Most jobs are bid this way.

A good way to save money, is find the siding you wish to use, and buy it on your own. If you allow a contractor to purchase your siding for you, chances are you are paying a extra fee for this. Contractors can add as much as 25% onto what you would pay for the siding if you bought it yourself. However that 25% extra fee will usually include delivery, but not always, so do not expect this.
A contractor should always let you know upfront of any additional fees you may see in your final bill. Some of these fees may include tool rental for your home if your home requires something out of the ordinary. Some other factors that will come into play when getting an estimate of your siding cost is, your homes location, the height of your home, your roofs overhang, the size siding plank you are wanting to have installed, caulking, paint, nails or screws, how many doors and windows you have, and soffit installation.
For all the variables mentioned above, a siding contractor may still find others with your particular home. This is why it is so hard to recieve an accurate quote or siding cost estimate over the phone, or online. There are many companies available online that will locate a local siding contractor and send them to your home for an estimate at no charge to you, the home owner. Always make sure that your siding contractor or installer is insured, and always ask for references. Checking previous work of a siding contractor is easy, as all it takes is a simple drive by of homes they have installed siding on in the past.

It will pay off for you in the long run.
